Are you ready? The staff at St. John School is excited and ready for a great year!
Early Drop off will be in the undercroft. Drop off and sign in will be at the Military Street entrance to the undercroft. Please sign your child in for safety reasons.
The after-school program will be held in the main school building - kindergarten and second grade classrooms.
There will be Mass on Thursday, August 15th, celebrating the Feast of the Assumption. Since it is not a regular Tuesday Mass the children will not be required to wear a white shirt and tie. Students are required to wear long pants/skirts/jumpers. No shorts please! The students may wear uniform polos.
Take care and God bless,
Dan Mardell

Calling all Computer Geeks!
Would you be interested in helping to support a vital component of our school's infrastructure? We recognize the importance that technology plays in today's world and as such we make it a priority to provide our teachers, students, and staff access to current technology. Along with that priority comes the necessity to keep things updated and that's where we need you! Would you be interested in volunteering a few hours of your time on a monthly basis to assist with our IT maintenance requirements? We especially need your help with updating software applications, and occasionally setting up new desktops and laptops. We can use as much or as little time as you are willing to give! Please prayerfully consider volunteering for this valuable service to our parish and school. Contact Renee Griese at rgriese@stjohnschoolonline.org for more information.
Virtus Training Date:
Saturday, August 17th at 9 am in the Mary House Sunday, August 18 at 9:30 am in the Mary House
Thursday, August 22 at 6 pm in the Mary House
According to Diocesan Policy, any employee or volunteer who works with children must complete the Virtus training, as well as submit to a background check. This training, mandated by the Diocese, is an informative session on how to identify potential sexual abuse perpetrators and the steps you can take to help prevent abuse.
If you have yet to receive the Virtus training but want to help with any parish or school-sanctioned events, you must attend a Virtus training.
Mark your calendar!
Please come join the staff of Calvary Cemetery, your Diocesan Cemetery, at 874 West Main Street, Lexington, KY, in praying the Rosary on Thursday, August 22, 2013 [The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary - the Patroness of our Diocese] at 10:00 A.M.
