Notes From the Office: August 17th, 2020

Greetings,

We are excited to start school and have everyone back in the classroom. I would like to welcome all our new students and their families to St. John School. Our teachers have worked hard to provide a healthy environment where the students can grow in mind and spirit. It is very important you read all the information about the start of school on the St. John School website. We need everyone to strictly adhere to the "Safe at School" guidelines so that we are able to continue with in person classes. I have included a few of the important points dealing with the start of school below. I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!

Safe at School
- Do not send your child to school with a fever or illness.
- Please send two clean face coverings with your child.
- Make sure your child has enough water for the day.

Arrival Times ******remember only a right turn into the parking lot at St. John Campus!
- Preschool - 7:30 am - 7:50 am - Parents may park and walk their child into the building.
- Kindergarten - 5th grade - 7:20 am - 7:50 am - Parents will drop off students -only students are allowed in the buildings.
- Middle School - 7:20 am - 7:45 am

Dismissal -
- Preschool -2:40 pm - Pick up your child in front of the Preschool building.
- Kindergarten - 5th - Gates open at 2:50 pm. Students dismissed at 2:55 pm. Parents are asked to stay in their cars.
- Middle School - 2:50 pm

After School Care - 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm in the church undercroft ( cafeteria)
- Teachers will walk students to Aftercare.
- Parents will pick up the students at the undercroft entrance on Military Street.

Please be patient and keep our school in your prayers. This is a very new venture for all of us with the pandemic.

Orientation Information

Please check out our school website, www.stjohnschoolonline.org, and click the online orientation button to view all the videos and documents you would receive at orientation.  These documents and videos are very important to view before the school year starts.  Also, there are 2 additional forms that must be signed and returned to the office before your child(ren) can start school.  Healthy at school & Mask Waiver  COVID Waiver

PE tee shirts and school sweatshirts

If you need to purchase a school PE shirt or school sweatshirt you must complete the order form on the school website.  We only place an order 1 time per year for these items.  Click here for a direct link to the order form.  All orders must be submitted by August 28th.

Volunteers Needed

Some middle school students will need to have transportation from Cardome to the Main Campus at the end of the day. If you are picking up a middle school student and headed to the Main Campus- we need your help. Much like a field trip driver - We will need to have your driver info on file and you will have to watch an online video. Please let the office know if you can help.

School Picture Day

School picture day is scheduled for Monday, August 24th.  This will be an out of uniform day for students.  Our 8th grade students will need to bring their Mass uniform on this day to have their graduation picture taken.  Please contact the office at [email protected] with any questions.

Summer Office Hours

St. John School summer office hours are 9 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Thursday.  If you need to drop something off after office hours, please place your papers in the mail slot of the office front door.  I will get them when I return to the office. Please call or email the school office if you need to make an appointment after those hours.  Have a great summer!

St. John Cross Country Information

"I hope this note finds all St John students having an enjoyable summer! During this time in which we have to be less social than usual, there is no better way to spend some of this extra time than to GET EXCITED and READY for the upcoming St John cross country season! Coach Brent, Coach Meghan, and myself are looking forward to welcoming back all of those returning harriers, and cannot wait to meet the new folks who are going to give the super sport of cross country a try this summer and fall.

The first day of practice will be MONDAY, JULY 27th, at 6 PM at Brooking Park at our normal place by the playground. There will be a short parent's meeting for the first 10 minutes of practice to talk about the season, expectations, etc. All you need the first day is a pair of running shoes, water, and a GREAT ATTITUDE! It is usually a nice idea to do some running leading up to the first practice.... so if you need any suggestions, please feel free to get in touch with me.
