Our Orientation Day is this Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. New and returning families are welcome and encouraged to attend on this day.
A couple of helpful reminders:
We will be using our indoor spaces this year, so please take note below of the various areas of the campus that will be used during orientation.
Also, please feel free to park anywhere on campus that day and remember to leave your supplies in your car for Part 1 & Part 2 and then drive/drive yourself (and all those supplies) closer to your classroom building so that it is a shorter carry to the classroom. Just be mindful of the 2-way traffic as you move between the 2 sides of the campus. Click here for a campus map!
Orientation Schedule (3:00 – 5:00)
There are two sessions available; come for one or stay for both
Session I 3:00 – 4:00
Session II 4:00 – 5:00
Each session consists of 3 parts, start with Part 1 at either 3:00 or 4:00
Part 1 Check-in/Opening Comments/General Information (CHAPEL AT CARDOME)
Part 2 Table Visits/Questions (CAFETERIA/PARISH HALL)
Part 3 Classroom/Teacher Visits/Supplies Dropoff/Turn in Paperwork (CLASSROOMS)
Should you be unable to attend the Orientation, you may come by the school on Tuesday, August 9th or Wednesday, August 10th to drop off students’ supplies and pick up paperwork between 9:00AM and 3:00PM. Please understand, however, that teachers will not be able to spend time with families during this final two-day window while they prepare for the opening of school on Thursday, August 11th.
Additionally, there will be a NEW FAMILY ORIENTATION/WELCOMING NIGHT on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM in the cafeteria, where new families are invited to come meet each other, some current families, and spend time asking questions. Our parent organization, Saints in Action (SIA) will be helping to host this event. It is designed to alleviate some anxiety and welcome you as part of the St. John School community.
Looking forward to seeing you at our Orientation and starting off the most amazing year!
Peace,
Mr. Mayer and the faculty and staff of St. John School
St. John School needs your help!
After a few months of trying to find a cafeteria manager and cafeteria assistant for our school, the Diocese Food Service Program has been unsuccessful in finding a replacement. So, Fr. Linh and I are again reaching out to our parish community. This is more than just a job posting (like we have been assisting with since May), this is a call to action.
We firmly believe that you or someone you know is looking for a full-time job with benefits that follows the school calendar and enjoys cooking/meal preparation. Now is the time to act on that feeling! Help us find that person(s) ready to meet the school’s needs and be one of the most appreciated people on our campus (the kids are always excited about the person that feeds them!)
Please contact one of the following to inquire or apply:

IMPORTANT LUNCH INFORMATION
Parents/Guardians
Please be aware that the federal USDA waivers that provided free lunch and breakfast for all students for the past two years have not been extended for the 2022-2023 school year. Students that do not qualify for free and reduced benefits will be charged for breakfast and lunch when they return to school in August. Additional information on meal pricing will follow.
With school starting soon, as of August 11, 2022, all parents and guardians will be responsible for maintaining their student’s accounts. The cafeteria staff will no longer allow “Ala Carte”, “Snacks”, or “Extra Entrees”(ex: pizza) to be purchased unless funds are available in the student’s lunch account.
All parents will be encouraged to complete an assistance application that could qualify them for reduced prices or free meals based on income guidelines. This application will be available after July 1st. Below is a list of frequently asked questions. I hope this will provide helpful information.

It’s that time of year again! Cross country is right around the corner! This is both an invitation to join the team AND to start getting some miles on your legs! The first practice this year will be Monday, July 25, at 6 PM, right next to the playground in Brooking Park. Practices will run until approximately 7:15 until the school year starts. All you need is a pair of running shoes, some water, and a great attitude!
It is a smart idea, especially for runners who are going to be in the fifth grade and up, to start doing some running in the summer in order to build a good base for the season. Coach Meghan happens to be hosting a running club for St. John students during the summer at the park. They are meeting two or three times a week in the evening. This is a great way to start getting those legs and hearts into shape! If you are interested, please contact Coach Meghan at [email protected].
Please consider coming out and giving cross country a chance – it is a lot of fun participating in this super team sport and individual sport. I look forward to seeing all of the returning harriers and all of the new faces on July 25! Have a super summer! Coach Todd
The Diocese of Lexington is looking to hire a cafeteria manager. Must have 2 years experience. Please contact Char Banta at [email protected] for more information or to apply.
