Thank you to parishioner Michele Owens for redoing the benches around our campus. They are beautiful!
Thank you to those who stopped by Chick-fil-A during the back to school bash night. It was a very busy place but fun was had by all!
Principal's CornerGreetings,We finished the first full week and everything is running smoothly. The students attended their first school Mass of the year and had a chance to spend some time in Adoration. Classes are moving right along and everybody is working hard. Remember, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about our school.We have talked a lot about using MAP testing to measure student academic achievement. Also, we use a resource called ACRE which measures how students are progressing with religious instruction and knowledge. This resource also has a component that solicits the students' opinions about our school climate. The ACRE assessment is given annually to our 5th and 8th grade students. The assessment gives us valuable information on the overall religious formation of our K - 8 program as well how the students feel about our school. Overall, the results show we are doing a great job with our religious education curriculum. Please feel free to contact the office if you would like to see specific results of this assessment.Thank you for all your help in getting St. John School off to such a fantastic start. Here's What's New:Cafeteria Help NeededWe need 2-3 people to help in the cafeteria on September 15, 16, & 17. Please email the office if you can help on those days.New Families Save the Date!!Sunday, October 4th for a Wine & Cheese gathering at the home of Maryellen & Richard Mullikin. It is sponsored by our Enrollment Committee to celebrate the enrollment of your child(ren) into our school community. Make new friends and get embraced by others who want to make you feel comfortable in our school. Watch for more information.Thrift Sale Volunteers NeededWe need 5 people on Saturday, the 29th, for the 8:00 to 11:00 shift and 12 people for the 11:00 to 3 Shift. The sign-up poster can be found in the back of church. Please sign up to Volunteer for this event. It supports the parish, school and many other charitable causes.After School Art ClubsArt Club: After school artists 5th grade and up. Art Club beginsMonday, September 31st from 3-4pm. Come for more creative works in the art room! Fee is $25 per month.Arts & Crafts Club: Tuesdays, beginning September 1st from 3:00pm-4pm open for students in grades 1st-4th.What will we do next? Come and find out! Fee is $25 per month.Drawing Club: Thursdays, beginning September 3rd to December 3rd from 3:00pm-4:00pm. Open to middle school dedicated young artists who would like to develop or continue developing their drawing skills. Class size limit is 10. Summer AR AwardsStudents who met their summer AR goals will receive their awards after Mass on August 25th.Updated Lunch MenuClick here for an updated lunch menu. It has changed from the one you received at orientation.Handbook RemindersPlease make sure you have reviewed your handbook for school policies. Make sure students are in proper uniform attire. Also, don't forget to sign the contract form in the back of the handbook and return in to the school office.Attention!!!! 2014-2015 YearbooksATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! Only 12 yearbooks are left - come and get one for your family from the office while they are still available! They are $25 and are full of St. John sports teams, classroom fun, field trips, and special programs held throughout the year. It's a great way to preserve your child's school memories!Kroger Community RewardsAugust is the annual re-enrollment month for the Kroger Community Rewards program. In order for current enrolled members to support our parish and school, you MUST re-enroll (or to enroll for the first time) in Community Rewards sometime in August ( August 1-31, 2015). All you need to do to enroll/re-enroll is go to www.Kroger.com/communityrewards. Once you have created an account, just follow steps to enroll/re-enroll in the rewards program using our parish's NPO number: 10168. Remember - your purchases will not count for our parish and school until you enroll or re-enroll.Knights of Columbus Blood DriveIt's time once again for the Fall Blood Drive at St JohnChurch..There is a never ending need for blood donations throughout Kentucky. The Georgetown / Scott County area is no different.Each donation benefits three people. What a wonderful investment.The Kentucky Blood Center Bloodmobile will be at St John ChurchSunday, August 30 from 8:00 to 12:30.You can register online at: http://www.kybloodcenter.org/ or you can sign up after Mass on Sunday, August 23.You can also call Bob Jackson: 502-370-4050.Kroger Community Rewards Program (NEW)Earn money for St. John School simply by shopping at Kroger and scanning your Kroger Plus Card. ** This program will replace the former Kroger Gift card fundraising program.** Here is how it works:1. Used UniformsDon't forget to stop by the office to purchase some gently used uniforms. You may also drop off all your old uniforms that don't fit anymore.BingoThere was no update available. VIP people are in high demand. If you would like to work bingo but do not want to walk all night, please consider learning one of the desk positions.
