What a busy week we had last week! Hopefully you noticed the excavation area for the playground. The equipment has been delivered and we are working with the supplier’s agent to get the area properly marked and designate the “community build” day. Look for the chance to sign up and help us get the equipment assembled once we have a date established.
As sent out last week, thanks to your generosity, we collected $5890 (an increase since last Wednesday’s total) through our iGiveCatholic Campaign this past Giving Tuesday. This amount gives us the ability to purchase the software for our student network to improve student productivity and monitoring of the network and allows us to purchase several additional Chromebooks for our students. You all are awesome! Your donations are impactful and so appreciated!
This past Saturday, the SJS boys basketball teams were in action again and we posted a win for the 5/6th team, but a loss for the 7/8th team. Both teams have a 1-1 record now. And, this weekend the SJS cheerleading squads were there for the games and you could really tell the difference. We packed both gyms with lots of fans, cheers, and noise. When we cleared out of the 7/8th grade game, it looked like there were only 20 people left to watch the next game! Great job and great fun!
Saturday evening also saw SJS return to the Georgetown Christmas Parade with a Nativity-themed float. The students on the float were all smiles and waves as they rode around through downtown Georgetown. It was great fun seeing everyone and parading through the large crowd packed downtown to see the Parade. Great job to the SIA and all the parents that helped organize, decorate, and manage the logistics!
This week in addition to our school mass on Tuesday, we have a Holy Day of obligation Mass ( Feast of the Immaculate Conception) on Thursday, 12/8 at 8:30 AM. Students do not need to wear their Mass uniforms for Thursday's Mass.
Please don’t forget when you are out shopping this year for Christmas that Ss. Francis and John Parish is participating in the Toys for Tots Program and our students can help by donating a new, unwrapped toy (see details below).
Peace,
Mr. Mayer
