St. John Catholic School Notes From the Office: Monday, July 10th, 2017         Weekly Updates         July 2017         Greetings, I hope everyone has been enjoying summer. The school campus is bustling with activity. We recently switched some rooms around to better accommodate our students. The fifth grade will now be in the Aquinas trailer with the sixth grade and the seventh grade will be in the St. Francis trailer with the eighth grade. There also has been a tremendous amount of maintenance work already completed.  The first and second floors of the Mary House have had quite the makeover - it really looks nice!  I would like to thank all the parents and students who have been working hard to make our school a better place. This Wednesday, July 12th, we will be trimming bushes, weeding gardens, and doing some general clean-up. We will start around 5 pm in the evening. Please bring trimmers, weed eaters,  gas blowers, and rakes. Please come and help, even if you can help for an hour or two. The more help we have the quicker we will finish. If you can't come Friday, please consider Saturday morning around 8 or 9 am. The Knights of Columbus will be helping us with the decks/stairs and other maintenance issues. These are great opportunities to help our school and get things looking great for the open house on Sunday. Lastly, a special thanks to Sam Newcomb's brother who donated 15 computers to our school. God bless and I hope to see you Wednesday evening or Saturday morning, Dan Mardell After School Supervisor Job Opening St. John School has an after school program supervisor position open for the 2017-2018 school year. The hours are 3 pm to 6 pm on days that St. John School is in session. The pay for this position is $12 / hour. Please contact Dan Mardell at St. John School  (502-863-2607 ) to apply.         Here's What's New!!         Our summer office hours are Monday - Friday from 9 am - 12 pm. Remember that the parish office is open from 9 am - 2 pm Monday-Friday if you need to drop something off.  Enjoy your summer and see you again in August!         St. John School is currently enrolling from preschool through 8th grade and we invite you to our Open House on Sunday, July 16 from 3 to 5 pm. If you have a preschooler, join us on the playground at 4 pm for Popsicles on the Playground! This is a time to meet our new preschool teacher, ask questions and get to the St. John’s preschool program!         Cross Country Right around the Corner! Hello past and soon-to-be new Saint John cross country runners!  Believe it or not, the cross country season is quickly approaching! The first practice is Monday, July 24 – we will meet in the grassy area by the big playground in Brooking Park as we always have at 6 pm.  Anybody from first grade through eighth grade can run cross country - just bring a good attitude, some water, and a pair of running shoes!  I will have a short parents' meeting at the beginning of this first practice to hopefully answer any questions.  Practice will generally be Monday through Thursday from about 6 PM to 7:15 PM. Now is a great time for you returning runners to start running a bit!  If you have any questions on how much to run or how to get started, do not hesitate to call or contact me.
