Things have been very busy at St. John's this summer. We now have our staff in place for the 2015-2016 school year. Our new faculty members include Deacon Larry Durbin, who will be teaching Middle School Science, Jaime Pursifull, who will be the 8th grade homeroom teacher and teaching Middle School Math, and Barbara Moore, who will be our art teacher. Please help make our new teachers feel welcomed at St. John. Watch for more to come about our new faculty.
I would like to congratulate St. John students and staff for their tremendous efforts on the year end MAP and STAR testing. The results were excellent! Look for them below or on our school website.
Please try to attend the Town Hall Meeting this Tuesday, at 6:30. It is very important to have everyone's input and prayer as we move forward with our mission of building a new church and school.
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell
Here's What's New:
Town Hall Meeting
Please make yourself available on June 16, 2015 for the next Town Hall Meeting to discuss the opportunities facing the parish and school. Come to the church at 6:30 PM that Tuesday night to find out "Why" we are focusing on these issues now and "Why" you should be involved. As always, families are welcome. You shouldn't feel that you cannot come because the kids would be a distraction. The opposite is true. What we are doing in this process will be most successful, the more people come to be informed and involved. We will close out this town hall meeting with a rosary and it will be a wonderful experience for our school families to share with our children and the other families in the parish. Please bring a rosary. We are really trying to have a good showing from the school families and since summertime is travel time for most of us, please make every effort to come and support our mission if you are in town.
Thanks so much for all you do to make our school and parish such a great place.

Cross Country
Hello St. John Cross Country Runners!
No rest for the weary - as the school year comes to an end, this is the time to turn all of that mental energy into physical energy as you get out those running shoes and start running in preparation for the upcoming, exciting cross country season!! This year's season will officially start on MONDAY, JULY 27th -- we will be meeting, as in year's past, at Brooking Park by the big playground. For those new to the sport, we practice from 6-7:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday, and Thursday at the park. All you need is a good attitude, a willingness to try hard, and a pair of running shoes!! We lost a huge chunk of middle schoolers last year, so we need fresh faces to help out the veterans - so if you are interested, come on out and join the fun! Any student at St John's in 1st - 8th grade is allowed to be on the team. If there are any questions, or if anyone would like suggestions on how much and what they should be running in this early summer, please do not hesitate to contact me at
[email protected] OR call me at 606-669-1230. I hope everyone has a refreshing start to their vacation!
