Summer is moving right along. As we close out June and look to what July holds, you may start to have questions about the upcoming year. July is always a big preparation time on campus. The stripping and waxing of the floors in the main school building will finish the first week of July and some of the teachers will begin the process of getting their rooms ready for the fall. Many of your teachers have been attending workshops or watching seminars while others have started getting their lesson plans ready to go.
In the office, we are getting the class lists and contact information ready, preparing for the orientation date(s), ordering/receiving books, supplies, and furniture. Additionally, I am still interviewing for the part-time teacher positions for technology, Spanish, and PE. I have already met with some excellent candidates and have a few more meetings with other applicants and will be able to make final decisions in the next few weeks. We are still having tours each week for prospective families, so keep that word of mouth advertising going. It is working!
Supply lists, uniform information, summer dates/events will all be coming your way in July. Please enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend as we celebrate Independence Day. As a reminder, school this fall starts on August 11, 2022, so make sure you don’t wait too long to have some fun this summer with your kiddos!
Peace,
Mr. Mayer
It’s that time of year again! Cross country is right around the corner! This is both an invitation to join the team AND to start getting some miles on your legs! The first practice this year will be Monday, July 25, at 6 PM, right next to the playground in Brooking Park. Practices will run until approximately 7:15 until the school year starts. All you need is a pair of running shoes, some water, and a great attitude!
It is a smart idea, especially for runners who are going to be in the fifth grade and up, to start doing some running in the summer in order to build a good base for the season. Coach Meghan happens to be hosting a running club for St. John students during the summer at the park. They are meeting two or three times a week in the evening. This is a great way to start getting those legs and hearts into shape! If you are interested, please contact Coach Meghan at [email protected].
Please consider coming out and giving cross country a chance – it is a lot of fun participating in this super team sport and individual sport. I look forward to seeing all of the returning harriers and all of the new faces on July 25! Have a super summer! Coach Todd

Important Lunch Information for the 2021-2022 School year
School breakfast and lunch will be free for all students for the 2021-22 school year. This takes the burden off of families while they continue to recover from the pandemic. We still need our families to apply for free/reduced lunches if applicable, click here. These applications affect receipt of the P-EBT cards the government has been sending out as well as grant money the school receives from the state.
