Notes From the Office: March 23rd, 2020

Greetings,

Welcome to NTI Week 2. The first week presented some challenges, but overall everything went smoothly. Long term NTI is a new situation for teachers and parents. Parents' work schedules (from home and outside the home), the number of children using /needing devices in the home, and technology (printers and the amount of higher speed data), all present unique situations. Most of the teachers are in a similar situation with children and college students now home taking online classes. Some of you may feel overwhelmed trying to get the work completed, while others feel the students need to be challenged more. Rest assured, we will continue to work with teachers to create a meaningful educational experience for everyone. Above all, please contact your teacher with any need or struggle your child is having! Next week is Spring break and hopefully that will be a good time to regroup and recharge.

The students should have their packets of work for this week, or they will be getting their daily/weekly work online. With the NTI extended two weeks after Spring break, we will need parents to pick up additional packets and books that they will need as we continue on. Here is the plan to distribute books, new packets, and also turn in previous work:

PLEASE PULL INTO THE PARKING LOT AS USUAL AND STOP IN FRONT OF THE MAIN BUILDING        (KINDER - 2ND BUILDING). TEXT JENNIFER (502 -316-3353) WITH YOUR FAMILY NAME AND TYPE OF CAR. SOMEONE WILL BRING BOOKS OUT TO YOU AND PICK UP ANY WORK YOU ARE TURNING IN (PLEASE PUT FIRST AND LAST NAME ON EACH PAGE OF WORK.  DO NOT RETURN ANY TEXTBOOKS, TEAR THE WORK OUT OF THE BOOK TO RETURN TO THE TEACHERS ). OUT OF RESPECT FOR CDC GUIDELINES PLEASE DO NOT GET OUT OF CAR OR LET YOUR CHILDREN OUT TO SEE OTHERS OR PLAY ON THE PLAYGROUND. THIS WAY ALL WORK WILL BE PICKED UP BEFORE SPRING BREAK. THEN YOU CAN RELAX OVER THE BREAK AND BE READY TO START MONDAY, APRIL 6TH

FREE Breakfast and Lunch to children 18 years of age and younger

During this time of uncertainty, the Catholic Diocese Foodservice program would like to do it's part in helping those in need.  We encourage all families in our Catholic Diocese school and parish communities, who are in need of assistance, to take part in this no-cost meal service program for children 18 years of age and younger.   But because this is a pandemic, all children 18 and younger qualify to eat for free.

The Catholic Diocese Foodservice program is committed to doing all that we can to meet the needs of our school and parish community during this unprecedented time. This free meal service will help to ensure the well-being of our children by meeting their nutritional needs, while easing some of the financial burden to families.

Beginning Monday, March 30th, we will start serving a FREE Breakfast and Lunch to children 18 years of age and younger.  It will be served in three of our school/parish parking lots in a meal pick-up service.  Children must be present to claim a meal.  Breakfast service will be served from 8:00-9:00 am and Lunch 11:00-12:00 noon.  Multiple days may be picked up at one time.  The locations of service are Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary School, Lexington, Good Shepherd School, Frankfort, and St Leo Catholic School, Versailles. 

May this mission to empower those in need and bring a community closer together in God.  Please pray for my staff and voluntaries as we begin this challenge.  As St Patrick once said, “May the strength of God pilot us, may the wisdom of God instruct us, may the hand of God protect us, may the word of God direct us. Be always ours this day and evermore.”

Free WiFi for the next few weeks for K-12 families

Charter is now offering FREE access to Spectrum Broadband & Wi-Fi for 60 Days for NEW K-12 and College Students Households.  Charter will partner with school districts to ensure local communities are aware of these tools to help students learn remotely.
