Weekly Updates
November 2017
Greetings,
Last Thursday we had our annual Science fair. We had a great set of judges. Most of the judges had prior judging experience and this group included an instructor and four graduate students from the University of Kentucky. They were very impressed with the overall effort put into the projects. The winners will be announced in church on Tuesday.
Another facet of our education at St. John School involves teaching our students to be good servants. During this Thanksgiving season our Beta club has prepared lunches for The Gathering Place, the 3
rd and 4
th grades led a food drive that netted 750 pounds of food for the Amen House, and finally the fifth grade will be going to The Gathering Place on Tuesday to prepare and serve lunch. Fantastic job students for truly living your faith!
I hope that you have a happy, healthy, and enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday! Please remember our “Giving Tuesday” next week for the iGiveCatholic campaign. I am grateful to the many people who have shared our link (igivecatholic.org), and to those who have given thus far during the Advance Days of Giving. If you have an opportunity to share the link with relatives while you are celebrating Thanksgiving please share, and ask them to share the link, too. Thank you, again, for helping make St. John School such a wonderful place to grow in mind and spirit!
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

Christmas Parade December 2 at 6:00 pm
Save the Date and make plans to join us for Georgetown’s 2017 Home for the Holidays Christmas Parade. This year’s theme is “Light up the Season”. We will certainly do just that by having a Christmas tree float with students as the ornaments, singing the Music Christmas Play songs. Parents are welcomed and needed to walk along the sides of the float – dressed as ornaments if you wish. Think you can make it? Please RSVP so we know how many trailers we will need. Want to help out with the float? Please contact Ginny Squires at (502) 316-4182.
St. John School Christmas Play!! Mark your calendars now! Sunday, December 17th, at 3pm in the Cardome Chapel.
It's just before Christmas and the tree ornaments have been awakened from their yearly hibernation by the movement of their storage box. It's time! As they begin to prepare for another season on the Christmas tree, they are greeted by a rather strange and "un-Christmassy" ornament: A Hula-Girl. The Star, Snowman, the Angel and others don't understand what she has to do with Christmas and give her a rather cool reception until another significant figure from the mantelpiece shows up to explain to all of them what Christmas is about and how they each have significance in God's amazing plan of redemption through His Son, Jesus.
A humorous and engaging story with delightful songs and a solid salvation message that will teach children what Jesus' coming was all about and remind kids and congregation alike that Christmas is truly a time to celebrate!
If you drink coke you can help our school raise money! All you need to do is enter the codes, found under the lid or on the box, at www.coke.com. The easiest way to locate our school is to search ST JOHN, 40324 in the search box. You can also turn your lids and box codes into the school office.
