Weekly Updates
November 2017
Greetings,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holidays. Over the holidays, I took some time to reflect on all the blessings in my life. One of the blessings is to be able to work at a St. John Catholic School. St. John School is a great mission of our church. We are truly blessed to be able to offer a wonderful spiritual and academic environment that helps our students become well rounded individuals. I am thankful for a phenomenal staff, parents, and children. Where else would you find a parent whose relatives are willing to use some of their time and skills over the holidays to help improve our campus? What great dedication and service! Thank you everyone for your help in making our school such a blessing for Ss. Francis and John Parish.
PS – I would personally like to thank all the members of my bingo team, the desk people, and Larry Kelly for giving up part of their holiday to work bingo Friday night. We had a large crowd of 178 people and sold 47 flash. A big night to help raise funds for our school and parish!!!! As we say, that is “Tretastic” – A combination of tremendous and fantastic!
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

The meeting will be at 6:30 in the Academy Theater at Cardome. The purpose of this meeting is to get your thoughts and to express your concerns about remodeling buildings two and three for the school. This is
your opportunity to express what you would like to see with the new school and your concerns about the remodel. This is your opportunity to speak directly to the architects. This is an exciting time for the future of St. John School - please come and be a part of it! I hope to see everyone there.

Christmas Parade December 2 at 6:00 pm
Come join Mr. Mardell, parents and students as we proudly promote our school! We will have a Christmas tree float with students as the ornaments, singing the Music Christmas Play songs. Parents are welcomed and needed to walk along the sides of the float – dressed as ornaments if you wish. Think you can make it? Please RSVP so we know how many trailers we will need. Want to help out with the float? Please contact Ginny Squires at (502) 316-4182.
St. John School Christmas Play!! Mark your calendars now! Sunday, December 17th, at 3pm in the Cardome Chapel.
It's just before Christmas and the tree ornaments have been awakened from their yearly hibernation by the movement of their storage box. It's time! As they begin to prepare for another season on the Christmas tree, they are greeted by a rather strange and "un-Christmassy" ornament: A Hula-Girl. The Star, Snowman, the Angel and others don't understand what she has to do with Christmas and give her a rather cool reception until another significant figure from the mantelpiece shows up to explain to all of them what Christmas is about and how they each have significance in God's amazing plan of redemption through His Son, Jesus.
A humorous and engaging story with delightful songs and a solid salvation message that will teach children what Jesus' coming was all about and remind kids and congregation alike that Christmas is truly a time to celebrate!
If you drink coke you can help our school raise money! All you need to do is enter the codes, found under the lid or on the box, at www.coke.com. The easiest way to locate our school is to search ST JOHN, 40324 in the search box. You can also turn your lids and box codes into the school office. If you would like to help enter codes, please email the office at [email protected].
Registration is open to the public. Please help spread the good news about our school. Visit the school website at
