Notes From the Office: Monday, October 15th, 2018Weekly Updates October 2018 Greetings,
Fall is definitely here! I visited all the classrooms this morning and saw many great activities. The students were engaged and working hard. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic group of teachers. I would like to wish the Cross County team the best of luck as they run in the state meet on Saturday. The students and coaches have all worked very hard to make this a successful season. Thank you for all your help in making St. John a fantastic place to "Grow in Mind and Spirit". Have a great week!

Here's What's New!! 
Lunch for this Friday
This Friday, October 19th, is an early release day. We will however be offering the students a sack lunch at 10:30. If they order lunch, they will choose either an uncrustable or ham wrap. With that, they will receive carrots, craisens, and chips.
The Diocesan Annual Appeal is inviting our children to participate and explore how our members are a family that is one in Christ. The goal is to strengthen the connection the students feel for our Diocesan family and to help see themselves as mission disciples of Jesus by contributing to their Diocesan family with prayers, good deeds, and charity. Please return the envelopes that your student is bringing home today, by Friday, October 19th. We are trying to get 100% participation.
Shaheen's Mobile Uniform Sale
Shaheen's will be at St. John on Friday, October 19th from 11 AM - 1PM. They will have a selection of uniforms in the undercroft for you to purchase. This is the perfect time to stock up on your uniform needs for this winter!
Thanksgiving Lunch
We will have our annual Thanksgiving lunch on Friday, November 2nd. We are trying something new this year! We are going to have the children eat lunch according to their last name so that families can eat together. Please watch the Notes or emails from your teacher for the exact lunch time for your student. Make sure if you wish to attend the lunch that you RSVP. We have run out of food in the past from people not notifying us they are coming. The RSVP form is due to the school office not later than Wednesday, October 24th so we can order the food.Scott County YMCA basketball
Scott County YMCA basketball signups have started! Signups end on October 24. When you sign up put “St. John” in the notes if there is the ability to do that. Please let Neal Thompson know if you plan on signing your child up and their ages.The teams are co-ed. Below are the age groups and we will need a coach for each age group.

8-9 (we have a coach)
10-12 (5th grade and above boys (6th and above girls) play for St. John in the Lexington Parochial League. Not affiliated with the YMCA).
Cross Country News
The St. John cross country team participated in its last regular season meet this past week at The Lexington School. Congratulations to both the elementary and middle school boys’ teams who both won their divisions! Next up is the STATE MEET at Masterson Station on Saturday, October 20th. Come on out and cheer on your Saints!
Internet Safety: What can parents do?

Please send in your box tops! Box Tops for Education is an easy way for you to help our school make money that costs you nothing. Just clip the Box Tops from participating products, send them in to the school office, and help us get funds for supplies and upgrades for our classrooms! Our next big submission deadline is November 1, so now is the time to send them in. Thanks for your help!
Art Room News
CHRISTMAS CARDS
As many of you know the art room's arts supplies come from the wonderful donations of our parents and our community. My departure is putting a kink the Christmas Card fundraiser so to rectify that as best I can I am having the students work on their Christmas pictures now for the Christmas card fund raiser. Flyers will be sent home this week for your students card order and we will email a copy as well. It is my hope to get all orders that come in completed before my departure. If you have any questions ahead of time, would like to put in a pre-order or would like to help out with the this fundraiser, please contact me at [email protected].. Thank you again for your generosity of this program. I personally have been blessed by your support in countless ways.

The easiest way to locate our school is to search ST JOHN, 40324 in the search box. You can also turn your lids and box codes into the school office.
