It is hard to believe we are already into October. We have a short week with just three days of school due to Fall break. The students and teachers have been working very hard, so this will be a well-deserved break. The cross country team had another successful weekend meet. Please check out the results below. Trivia Night was held on Saturday and everyone had a fantastic time. If you haven’t been to one you are missing out! Be sure to check out the next Trivia Night. I invite everyone to the blessing of the animals on Wednesday. This is always a fun time to bring your pets and celebrate with St. John families. Lastly, I would like to wish everyone a safe and restful Fall break.
*** After school on Wednesday, October 4 – please use the door on Military Street to pick up your children. They will be doing some work on the driveway going into the parking lot.***
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

New Athletic Director
I am happy to announce that our New Athletic Director is Neal Thompson. Neal and his wife, Julie, currently have one son in school, Parker. Parker is currently in Pre-K. I look forward to seeing the Athletic Department grow under his leadership. As you can already see some of that growth happening, he has worked with the YMCA so some of the younger kids can play together at the YMCA. Thank you Neal for taking this Volunteer position and hopefully, since Parker is only in Pre-K, you can enjoy this fun position for the next 8 years.
Thank you
Jason Noffsinger

Cross Country News
The St John harriers traveled to Frankfort and the infamous, hilly Archives course this past Saturday to run the Capitol View Classic! Gorgeous weather abounded, and so did the great runs and times produced by your Saints! Since our runners visited this course earlier in the year, it gives us a great gauge on our improvement. . . . . . and WHAT an improvement there has been!! There was an AVERAGE improvement of 59 SECONDS by the 18 runners who ran the exact same 0.93 miles course on Saturday -- this is fantastic!! Medals went to the top 50 finishers in each race, and earning these for St John were Dominic Bilotta (2nd), John Reinhart (5th), David Reinhart (8th), Kristin Drummond (26th), Joey Laco (20th), Josh Drummond (28th), Charlie Comer (40th), Mackenzie Hughes (39th), Mark Reinhart (23rd), Coen Noble (41st), Ben Mayer (46th), and Gianna Neaves (3rd!). Great job, Saints!!
We race again Tuesday (Oct. 3rd) at the Lexington School and then on Saturday at the Lexington Catholic Invitational at the Horse Park -- come out and cheer on your classmates!! There are only 3 weeks left in our season!

St. John’s Volunteer Policy
Many volunteer opportunities are available for parents, students, parishioners, and extended family and friends to assist with the daily routine of the school. To participate in these volunteer opportunities is to take part in the stewardship of our community. By giving of one’s time and talents to others, parents offer the best example of living Christian values to their children and help to foster a sense of giving in their children.
Several crucial volunteer opportunities are offered yearly which serve the mission of the school or raise necessary funds to offset the operating costs of the school and keep the overall tuition lower than most of the Catholic schools in our area. Participation in the following events/activities is greatly appreciated:
Head Coach for Sports Team Bingo Cafeteria Volunteers
Stewardship is a way of Christian life. An essential part of the Christian life is service to others and stewardship of the blessings God has bestowed on us. We must, as a school family, come together for the good of everyone. Our school is proud to offer lower tuition rates than others in the Diocese, and there is one resource that allows us to do so - Bingo. This crucial school fundraiser, which helps to keep tuition as low as it is, does not require your money but your time. We are asking every family to volunteer their time at Bingo in order to keep this fundraiser operating. If you have not worked Bingo in the past, it can be fun, and training will be provided.
