Greetings,

I hope you are enjoying the break from the heat with this cool weather! The students are excited to be out of uniform for picture day. MAP testing is over except for makeup tests and all the classes did well. Remember, MAP test gives us a snapshot of where the students are performing and helps guide our instruction. School is rolling along and the students are working hard. Thank you for your help in making St. John School the best! Please spread the word because that is one of our best recruiting tools.

	Here's What's New!!

August Peacebuilders


	Cross Country Update The St John cross country season has gotten off to a great start! We have 27 very dedicated and talented students running this 2018 season and they have gotten off to a flying start! 3 races have been run to date: the Archives on Aug 29th, the Grant County Invitational on Sept 1st, and the Bluegrass CC Invitational this past weekend at Masterson Station Park in Lexington. Overall, we have a younger team, but our 7 seventh graders -- Maddie Blankenship, Josh Drummond, Joey Laco, Nathan Kovach, Charlie Comer, Taylor Crump, and John Reinhart -- are leading the way well and improving meet by meet! The younger folks are running fast, highlighted by a 2nd place team finish for the 4th and under boys at the Archives meet!! We have 7 first year runners this year -- Cabrini Neaves, Eleanor Gordley, Ian Conklin, Maura Laco, Tess Laco, Kate Laco, and Lilly Dozer -- and they are exceeding expectations so far! This coming week, we host our home meet with Scott Co at Scott County Park; we start racing at 10:45 -- please come out and cheer on your fellow classmates!!


	Middle School Girls Basketball Team We are sending out an early notice to gauge the interest level in 6th-8th grade for a girls basketball team. There wasn’t enough interest last year for a team and we hope the interest is there this year to play in the Lexington parochial league. Practice does not start until November. Please let Lisa Case know if your daughter would like to play. You can email Lisa at [email protected].


	Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge Who: Boys and Girls ages 9-14 What: Demonstrate the basic skill - penalty kick When: September 23, 2018 @ 2PM Where: Cardome Renaissance Center 800 Cincinnati Rd. Georgetown, KY


	Lexington Catholic Middle School Night We invite our middle school students to come out for an exciting evening at the home football game on Friday, September 14th at 6 p.m. We will have food, games, prizes and more! Click here to view the flyer.


	Lexington Catholic Dance and Cheer Youth Clinic If your child is interested in participating in this dance and cheer clinic click here for all the information.


	Lunch Menu Change and update Click here to download the updated lunch menu. Instead of Wow butter sandwiches our school will be offering uncrustables.


	After School Email Address If you need to contact Janene Barry about after school please email [email protected] For the upcoming school year all after school billing will be automatically deducted from your FACTS account unless you have made prior arrangements. 	If you drink coke you can help our school raise money! All you need to do is enter the codes, found under the lid or on the box, at www.coke.com. The easiest way to locate our school is to search ST JOHN, 40324 in the search box. You can also turn your lids and box codes into the school office. If you would like to help enter codes, please email the office at [email protected].
