Weekly Updates
September 2017
Greetings,
I am always amazed at the generosity of our school and parish when it comes to helping others in need. Thank you so much for all your donations to help those affected by Harvey. The school year has started very smoothly. The results of the MAP Testing were above the national norm, and the data will give us some good information about the strengths and weaknesses of our students. Mid-term for the first quarter ends on Friday and grades will be sent home Monday.
Our cross country team will compete Saturday in the "Double S Stampede" held out on the Double Saints property on Newton Pike. St. John runners should be competing around the 10:00 to 1:00 time frame. This is a great chance to come out and cheer on our students.
Please check out the wonderful article about St. John School in this weeks edition of "Crossroads", or

God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell
Here's What's New!!
New SJS Spirit Wear Tees
We have a new design for our spirit wear shirts thanks to
My Kentucky Tee. It’s a very traditional design with our name boldly featured alongside our school crest
- sure to be seen out in the community!
All short sleeve, long sleeve as well as sweat shirts are available in solid maroon and navy school colors. All options are available in both youth and adult sizes. These shirts conform to our dress code and the tees can be worn on Fridays. Click
here to view the youth sizing chart and
here to view the adult sizing chart.
NEW this year, we have a “Weekend Tee” option – it is available in heather navy & heather maroon colors. These shirts have a soft feel, vintage look and wear very comfortably. Tees are unisex tees and actually tend to run on the bigger side. Please note that the “Weekend Tee” is only available in adult sizes and
does not meet our school dress code. This tee is ideal for parents & older students to wear on the weekends and for of course cheering on the Saints!
We invite you to stop in the office to view samples and colors.

Please submit orders to the office by

Athletic Director Needed
All,
I have decided that it is time for me to turn over the AD position to someone else at St. John’s. With this being said if you are interested in the position, please let me know. With the role, you work with all of our sports programs making sure all invoices are paid and all athletes pay for each season. You also work with Mr. Mardell on all decision related to the sports programs. It has been fun doing the job over the past 3 years and I will work with whoever takes the role to make sure a smooth transition.
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. No more donations are being accepted at the school at this time. We have sent all donations to be loaded on the truck for Texas.

Cross Country News
The St John CC team got some beautiful weather to run in this past weekend at the Bluegrass CC Invitational at Masterson Station Park in Lexington, KY. All the runners did fantastic, especially our 6th graders who had to run a much longer distance of a 4K -- Charlie Comer, Taylor Crump, Nathan Kovach, John Reinhart, and Josh Drummond did excellent with this. Top 20 finishers, and medal earners, were Dominic Bilotta (1st place -- 4th race in a row!!!), John Reinhart (2nd place), David Reinhart (15th place), Mark Reinhart (3rd place), and Kieran Graham (7th place). Our only scoring team, the 6th-8th grade boys, got a very good 5th out of 15 teams!! Next week is our own Double S Stampede at the property on Newtown Pike -- middle school races start at 10:15, followed by the 4th-6th graders at 11:15, and then 1st-3rd graders at 12:15. Please come out and cheer on your classmates and fellow students!! Keep it going, Saints!
