4th-6th grade boys team won 1st place at the Double "S" Stampede!
Principal's Corner
Greetings,
The presence of St. John School was definitely out in the community this weekend. First, we had four different soccer teams competing in the Scott County YMCA league. Secondly, our cross country team co - hosted a huge meet with the Scott County schools. Lastly, students under the direction of Mrs. Upton sang for the Cardome Alumni Association. All these activities provided fun and valuable experiences for our students. Without the tremendous support and help from all the parents none of this would be possible. So, I would like to offer a big THANK YOU to all the parents! You are definitely a key ingredient in making St. John School successful.
Our students have also been very active in service projects. The BETA Club made 44 "socks of love" which included various necessities for the Gathering Place in Georgetown. Also, our middle school students completed a water project. They spent several weeks reading, researching, and discussing the impact clean water can have in regions of the world. They also raised almost $900 to help build or refurbish wells in Africa. This was a great lesson in service and social justice for our students.
Students, parents, and teachers are making a difference at St. John School and beyond - FANTASTIC!
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell
Here's What's New:
Fall Family Movie, Dinner & S'mores Night!
Friday, September 25, at Double Saints Property
Last Spring was such a success! Both kids and adults had a great time! Each class will be responsible for contributing food for this event. Also, if there are any 6th-8th grades who would like to volunteer to "watch" the younger kids during the movie, please let me know. Interested in helping?
St John hosted the Double S Stampede at the Church's new property with the good folks from Scott County this past
Saturday. We had a wonderful turnout, esp in the middle school and elementary races, and once again were blessed with tremendous weather! With the added incentive of "defending our home turf", our kids ran hard and fast! Top 10 finishes were garnished by Kristin Drummond, Erin Luckett, Preston Luckett,Dominic Bilotta, David Reinhart, and John Reinhart. In the K-3grade races, Gianna Neaves, Coen Noble, Ben Mayer, Mark Reinhart, Charlie Berry, and Preston Luckett all earned a HORSESHOE, the prize for obtaining a top 50 finish in these large races! Kylie Hargrave and Grace Hommrich had top 50 finishes in the girls middle school race as well! To top it all off,the 4th-6th grade boys team -- consisting of David Reinhart (1st place), Dominic Bilotta (2nd place), John Reinhart (3rd place),Alex Mayer (21st place), Josh Drummond (23rd place), Max Berry, and Evan Lopez -- WON the race, beating 11 other teams!! Their trophy will be on display in the office ---great job Saints!!!
A special thanks to all the St John Parents and Staff who helped volunteer during the day -- it went very smoothly and we were able to earn a good amount of money for the sports programs at St John because of all of your hard work!!
