Weekly Updates
September 2018
Greetings,
I hope this weekend found you safe and dry! It was a very busy weekend for our school and parish. On Saturday, we had a group of students led by Ms. Staub sing a few songs for the Cardome Alumni Reunion. They did a great job! The cross county team was also in action and it was fantastic to find out that many of the runners are really improving their times. Please see more about their efforts in the notes. All the students who play soccer were also in action. Lastly, four of our students (Jaxon & Carson Witajewski, Clark Howell, and Nevaeh Dinkins) helped the Knights of Columbus and Mrs. Reinhart at bingo. With their help we had a very fun and profitable evening. I would like to thank all the students who help with bingo throughout the year. The is a wonderful act of stewardship that benefits the school and parish!
On Sunday, the Knights of Columbus held a pancake breakfast that benefited the Adopt-a-Student program. I would to thank the Knights for their generous support and wonderful pancakes. With all the rain the soccer shootout had to be cancelled, so stay tuned for more information on when it will be rescheduled.
Finally, an email was sent out earlier containing a letter from Ms. Moore stating her resignation effective November 1. I would like to express my thanks to Ms. Moore for all her excellent work with the art program. The staff and students will really miss Ms. Moore. She is a very talented art teacher who worked very hard promoting our art program. Our prayers are with Ms. Moore as she begins this next journey in her life. We have posted her position on the diocesan website and are currently searching for an art teacher.
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell
Here's What's New!!
Join the Beta-Club and Knights of Columbus in honoring Officer Morales and his family with a donation of love and charity. A dress down day will be held on Wednesday, September 26th, at a cost of $5 per student or $10 per family. Remember, this is a direct donation to Officer Morales’ family and a great way to show the same charity Jesus would have shown us.
Thank you again to our Trivia Night sponsors Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the Bluegrass And Bluegrass Pediatrics & Internal Medicine
Congratulations to the winners table, appropriately named “the sponsors.”
Everyone had a great time and raised $1,010 which will be used to put filtered water faucets in the preschool and 3/4 grade houses. The remaining money will be spent on technology upgrades and additions!!! Next Trivia Night will be March 16 and the theme is St Patrick’s Day!
Cross Country Update!
Your St. John Harriers have been busy again these past 2 weekends, running hard and improving with every race! St. John, with our friends from Scott County, hosted the Double S Stampede on Sept. 15th at Scott Co Park. It was a hot day, but the race attracted more schools than any year prior! Top 50 finishers included Gianna, Coen, John, Preston, Griffin, and Owen!! This past weekend, the runners took their talents to the infamous Archives course at the Capitol View Classic in Frankfort. This is always a fun race that includes woods and a huge hill; it's also the second time our team has run this course this year, so we can see how much everyone has improved! Your classmates did NOT disappoint! Almost all of them improved their time significantly, indicating that their hard work over the last 2 months is paying off! Great drops in times came from Preston, River, Gianna, Makenzie, Tess, Kaylynn, Maura, Mark, Coen, Ben, Kieran, Ian, Owen, William, Cabrini, and Eleanor!! Great job, Saints!!"
