Weekly Updates
September 2017
Greetings,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Labor Day weekend. We continue with our MAP testing this week. So far the results show our students scoring above the national average. These tests help us identify the strengths and weaknesses of our students so we can better help them with academics. A big congratulations to our cross country team. They were very successful on a very sloppy track in Grant County this weekend. Dominic Bilotta and John Reinhart finished first in their divisions. Nine other runners from St. John received medals. Check out the article about the meet below.
This is a very exciting time for our parish and school as we plan to transition out to Cardome. There are many people working very hard on this endeavor. I hope to see you at the convocation tonight. Please come and give your input. Thank you for all your help and support in making St. John School a great place!
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

Robotics Club Kickoff Open House
Dear parents,
We will be having a Robotics Club Kickoff Open House on Friday, September 8
th from 6 to 8 PM in building 2 at Cardome. This will be a meet and greet event with sign up for the upcoming school year. Come check us out
anytime between 6 and 8 PM to see what we are all about. Come with questions.
This year, we will be taking kids from 3
rd to 5
th grade for the VEX IQ robots. The older kids, from 6
th to 8
th graders, will be using the VEX EDR robots if they will be doing competitions and may be using the VEX IQ robots if they want to participate but do not want or cannot compete due to other obligations. This depends on interest in the program. For those wanting to participate but cannot compete in the fall can still participate in the spring and move into competition teams if they wish.
For the younger kids, kindergarten through 2
nd grade, we will be having “mini” camps in which the kids can discuss, build, and complete assigned task/challenge with their robots. These camps will be one day per week and should last 3 to 4 weeks for each session with a new session every other month. We hope to have kids battle their robots, complete tasks with robots, and drive through a maze with robot depending on the session.
We will be recruiting additional coaches during signups. Please help out if you can. If you cannot make it Friday, feel free to email me and let me know if your student is interested in the program.
Any questions can be directed to Jimmy Blankenship at
[email protected]
We hope to see you there!!!!
Help our school earn some extra money while enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner out!
