I trust you are having a restful summer. We are busy wrapping up the paperwork on a great 2013-2014 school year. Also, we are already ordering books and getting our school facilities cleaned up for next year. Here are a few important reminders and notes:
If you have not turned your annual fee into the office, please do so as soon as possible. We are ordering material for next year and we use this money for purchasing items.
I am very excited to announce that Katharine Coleman has been hired as our new fourth grade teacher. Mrs. Coleman will also be bringing her 7th grade son to join us at St. John School. If you see them around our campus, please make them feel welcome!
Without our volunteers, St. John School would not be the great school that it is. I would like to thank all the parents and parishioners that put in countless hours to help our school. Please prayerfully consider how you can volunteer to help our school next. year. There are many opportunities to help such as bingo, copying for teachers, cafeteria helpers, coaching and helping with recycling. Remember - Many hands make light work.
Please keep our church and school in your prayers this summer!
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

Cross Country News
Put on those running shoes and tie up those laces. .. . . . . it is almost time for the St John Cross Country Team to take flight. This year's official practices will begin on MONDAY, JULY 28th, 2014 at 6 pm at our usual meeting place next to the big playground in Brookings Park (aka, Scott Co. Park). The team is open to students from 1st grade though 8th grade; the more we have, the more fun and more competitive we can be!! If you have never run cross country before, I think you would find it to be a very rewarding sport with a good mix of individual and team goals! For those returning runners, I am looking forward to your leadership of this team! Now is the time for everyone to start running a little on their own; getting some miles on your legs now will pay off late in the season! We will go over more details at the first practice, but if you have ANY questions, please contact me at either 606-669-1230 or [email protected]. If any returning runner would like some suggestions on what to be running now, feel free to drop me a line as well. Please give running some thought, talk it up with your friends, and I hope to see you all out there in late July! Coach Todd
