St. John School Newsletter
April 18th, 2022
St. John Families:
I hope that you had the chance to spend time reflecting with your children on the significance of Easter yesterday. I was blown away with the attendance at the 10:30 Mass at Cardome and the great feeling of togetherness in faith that was present. Our own Lila Costello did an amazing job of proclaiming the First Reading for the Mass. Thank you to her. Your children in grades 5 and up have begun training to serve at Masses and each grade from 2nd to 8th has been putting forward readers at our school Masses for the entire year. Please consider having them participate in our weekend Masses.
Remember that this weekend we have our 2 races for noble causes. See the details below for each and please help out in any way that you can. We are blessed to have a great community of families willing to support each other and make the world a better place. We raised $560 to support the Afghan refugees and donated so many items that they were blown away with our generosity. Thank you to all.
Please don’t forget that Volunteer Appreciation is tomorrow. We will be having Word and Communion and all are invited to attend at 8:30 am in the Cardome Chapel.
Lastly, we are at the midterm of our 4th quarter. As we see the calendar fill in with fun outdoor activities and trips, both at school and at home, please help us to keep your children focused on staying on top of their schoolwork. We emphasize that life is always a balance between what we need to do and what we want to do. Your children are a blessing and we (the staff) are blessed that you entrust them to us each day. Let us work together to get the most out of the last 6 weeks of school!
Peace,
Mr. Mayer

St. John School is asking for your help in donating water and granola bars for the Dom & Dave Memorial 5k! This race is in memory of Mrs. Bilotta's son and his friend who lost their lives last May in a tragic car accident. We will need about 40 cases of water and 90 boxes of granola bars for the race. These much appreciated donations can be given during the student morning drop off or brought to the school office.
If you would like to register for the race on April 24th, there's still time! It's a family friendly course to run or walk. Come join us and honor the memory of two very special boys!!
