Notes From the Office: August 10th, 2020

Greetings,

I hope you have been able to enjoy your summer despite all the uncertainties brought on by the pandemic. This year I will miss seeing everyone at orientation. To avoid large group gatherings, we are doing things differently. Today we posted my opening orientation remarks, along with some informational videos and frequently asked questions, on the St. John website. This orientation button on the website page should point you to all the information you need as we begin the school year. Also, I have asked teachers to schedule a virtual meeting or small group meeting with their classes. So you should have heard or will be hearing from your child's teacher. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Orientation Information

Please check out our school website, www.stjohnschoolonline.org, and click the online orientation button to view all the videos and documents you would receive at orientation.  These documents and videos are very important to view before the school year starts.  Also, there are 2 additional forms that must be signed and returned to the office before your child(ren) can start school.  Healthy at school & Mask Waiver  COVID Waiver

School Supply Drop Off K-5

Parents with students in grade K-5 can drop off school supplies in the school office on Thursday, August 13th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  All other grades will drop off when your classroom teachers sends you the date.

Volunteers Needed

Some middle school students will need to have transportation from Cardome to the Main Campus at the end of the day. If you are picking up a middle school student and headed to the Main Campus- we need your help. Much like a field trip driver - We will need to have your driver info on file and you will have to watch an online video. Please let the office know if you can help.

School Picture Day

School picture day is scheduled for Monday, August 24th.  This will be an out of uniform day for students.  Our 8th grade students will need to bring their Mass uniform on this day to have their graduation picture taken.  Please contact the office at [email protected] with any questions.

Summer Office Hours

St. John School summer office hours are 9 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Thursday.  If you need to drop something off after office hours, please place your papers in the mail slot of the office front door.  I will get them when I return to the office. Please call or email the school office if you need to make an appointment after those hours.  Have a great summer!

Job Openings for St. John School

After School Teacher -This position is for anyone 18 years of age or older who enjoys working with children.
Requirements: Must pass a criminal background check, complete CMG safe environment program and will need to complete an online child care orientation plus 9 additional hours of online continuing education.  Please contact Dan Mardell at [email protected] for more information.

St. John Cross Country Information

"I hope this note finds all St John students having an enjoyable summer! During this time in which we have to be less social than usual, there is no better way to spend some of this extra time than to GET EXCITED and READY for the upcoming St John cross country season! Coach Brent, Coach Meghan, and myself are looking forward to welcoming back all of those returning harriers, and cannot wait to meet the new folks who are going to give the super sport of cross country a try this summer and fall.

The first day of practice will be MONDAY, JULY 27th, at 6 PM at Brooking Park at our normal place by the playground. There will be a short parent's meeting for the first 10 minutes of practice to talk about the season, expectations, etc. All you need the first day is a pair of running shoes, water, and a GREAT ATTITUDE! It is usually a nice idea to do some running leading up to the first practice.... so if you need any suggestions, please feel free to get in touch with me.
