We are all looking forward to the opening day of school Wednesday, August 16, 2023. It was so great seeing so many of you yesterday at the Orientation. If you were not able to make it or you just did not have time to drop off your student supplies, this is a reminder that you can bring the supplies by school during the day tomorrow (Tuesday 8/15/23). However, many of us will be attending the funeral services that day for the late Jean Sparks, a true stalwart of the parish and great friend to the school. Her many years of service and support are an example to us of God’s call to stewardship.
I sure hope that the kiddos have a great last couple of days before school opens and pray for a good night’s rest for them too! We are going to have an awesome year!
August 16, 2023 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Mr. Mayer

Summer vacation has started! This brings up of thoughts of playing outside, hanging out with friends, swimming in the pool, going on vacation, reading your favorite book, and ............ RUNNING! Yes......... St. John Cross Country!! Running is a great way to meet new friends, have fun with old friends, challenge and push yourself personally, and have fun racing as a TEAM! On top of all of these perks, it also is a fantastic way to get in shape for other sports. All you need are a pair or running shoes, some water, and a great attitude! Our first priorities as coaches are to keep this fun and try to develop a love for lifelong running!
If you are interested and want to give it a try, official practices start on Monday, July 24th at 6 PM at Brooking Park by the big playground. We will have a short parents' meeting the following Monday, July 31st at the beginning of practice at 6 PM at the same spot. If you are not sure about it, still come out and give running a try for a week or two. No experience needed!
The summer Running Club headed by Coach Meghan Graham is another great way to get into running for the first time. Veterans -this is a super way to start getting some miles on your legs! This is going to be on Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July. Be on the lookout for more information in the Office Notes from Coach Meghan about this!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] ! Looking forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces AND meeting a bunch of new folks! I hope everyone has a great start to the summer!
