Welcome to the first full week of school! I hope that the students got some rest this weekend and are ready to start a great week. Our “specials” classes start this week, so they will be adding Spanish, art, music, technology, and PE to their weekly routines going forward.
Our first school Mass is tomorrow in the Chapel at 8:30 am. Family members are always welcome as are other members of the parish (this is the parish’s Tuesday Mass). As a reminder, the boys are to wear pants and ties to Mass. Because of the anticipated high heat tomorrow, we will allow a change of shorts after Mass. Please explain to your sons that this is for after Mass. The teachers will most likely coordinate this change out of pants and into shorts when the boys go to the bathroom so that they can change in the bathroom stalls. They are not required to change and are welcome to stay in pants. Our outdoor activities will be moderated while the heat is high and I spoke to the teachers and students during my announcements this morning about making adjustments to outdoor activities because of the higher heat.
The pickup process at dismissal is going pretty smoothly. Please remember to leave your driver side door open if your student(s) have not yet made it to your vehicle. This helps us spot you and get your student(s) heading your way.
As I mentioned during orientation, Afterschool pickup is a little different this year. We have 3 buildings that we are using, in addition to 2 different playgrounds. Depending on what time you come to pick up your student(s), we could be in any one of those places. As we proceed this week, we will get a better feel for the number of students participating in Afterschool. If any updates are needed, we will notify you next week.
Peace,
Mr. Mayer
2022-2023 Yearbooks
Did you forget to order your yearbook last year? That's no problem. We have about 15 extras that are for sale. They will be on a first come first serve basis. Please email the office at [email protected] if you would like to purchase one.
Kentucky State Fair Awards
Congratulations are in order for our own Olive Porter, 6th grade artist extraordinaire, for her awards at this year’s Kentucky State Fair. Olive won First Prize (Gr 3 - 6) for her “Tiger’s Eye” drawing and the Ben E. Johnson Creative Kids Award (one of only 4 given at the Fair). And her “flowers” painting (which she painted as an art project at school last year) received the Patricia Lyons Ansert Memorial Award (also one of only 4 given at the Fair).
After School Registration
If your child(ren) will need to use the after school program for the upcoming school year, please complete the after school registration form and return it to the office as soon as possible. We would like to make sure we have adequate staffing for the upcoming year. Click here for the registration form. You can email the completed form to the office at [email protected].
Snacks and Drinks
Just a reminder that all students should bring a snack and drink from home everyday. All classes have a snack time for students.
