The rain and cloudy weather made it a little harder for me to get moving this morning. However, I believe all the plants are giving out a big sigh of relief with the rain. I would like to thank everyone for adhering to our starting time. Having everyone here, in their seats, and ready to go by 7:50 am sets a positive tone for the day! Also, please be sure to ask your children for ways to praise people. We spent last week giving them 101 ways to praise people. St. John School is striving to be a school of praise and not put downs. These are the first two principles of the PeaceBuilder pledge. The students will be MAP testing the next two weeks of school. It is important that they are well rested and ready to go. This test is used as baseline data to see how they improve during the year.
Lastly, don't forget about our Fall Fest at Cardome. The school has been asked to donate baskets for the silent auction. You should have received a flyer or email about this project. If not, please contact the school office or your child's teacher. We are also asking for help selling raffle tickets. Let the office know if you would like some tickets to sell. The Fall Fest should be a fun event for our community and one third of the proceeds go to the school. Thank you for your support!
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell
Here's What's New!!
Important After School Information Due to the Festival of The Horse Parade on Friday, September 6th, there will be no after school. The parade lines up on Military Street and the city starts closing the roads in the area for the parade. We are sorry for any problems this may cause but it is out of our control.
Lifetouch Picture Day Monday, September 9th at 8AM Students may have an out of uniform day for their school picture to be made on this day. Retake day will be a uniform only day. All 8th grade students must wear their Mass uniform for their picture as it is also their graduation picture.
Changes for the 2019-2010 Yearbook After producing the St. John School yearbook for the last eight years, the current yearbook volunteers have both taken on new responsibilities at the school. As a result, it is necessary for them to step away from the yearbook. If there are any parents or relatives of students who are interested in taking this project on, we would love to hear from you! Responsibilities include taking photographs at school events (or finding others that can provide photos), creating yearbook themes and pages with a very user-friendly online program, submitting documents by deadline dates, and marketing the yearbook. These tasks could be completed by an individual or a committee. We are happy to provide training to anyone who is interested! You can be responsible for carrying on the St. John yearbook tradition! Please contact the office for details.
