Weekly Updates
December 2019
Greetings,
I would like to thank everyone for their generosity with the iGiveCatholic campaign. $6400 was raised to help refurbish the kindergarten classroom. Our aim is to make the classroom more adaptable for STREAM education. This is just another example of how generous our parents and parishioners are when it comes to donating their time and treasure. We also had a bonus surprise. Lakeshore Learning Company donated a Makers Space (valued around $900) to our STREAM education program!
Tonight is our annual Christmas program. Ms. Whittington and the students have been working very hard on this presentation. Preschool through third grade report to the undercroft at 6:30 and perform at 7:00. The fourth through eighth grade students report to the undercroft at 7:00 and perform at 7:30. I hope to see everyone there. This is always a great time to get together and celebrate the Christmas season.
Remember, during the second week of Advent we light the candle that represents peace. Please take some time during this busy season to slow down, pray, and be thankful for all the gifts God has given you.
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

Circle of Grace The safety of your children is always uppermost in our minds. In recent years, we have taken many steps to ensure our school is a safe place. All our staff and volunteers have received background checks and training in protecting our students. Before Christmas, we will be utilizing lessons from the “Circle of Grace” program in the religion classes. This program is endorsed by Bishop John Stowe and the United States Conference of Bishops. Lesson plans have been developed for our various grade levels and will offer specific instruction in safety. St. John School is using this as part of the diocesan environmental safety program. If you have any questions/concerns, contact me or please stop by your child’s classroom to view the content of the program.
