Principal's Corner
Greetings,
What a week! St. John School was well represented by our students at the diocesan wide science fair. All our students did a fantastic job with their projects and some will be moving on to the regional competition. I also had a chance to observe the 7th grade give a combination presentation, power point, demonstration on a science field of their choice. This was done as an extension to a story they read about an inventor. Their creative juices were flowing with projects ranging from robotics to the dimensions of time. Their presentations were amazing and very thought provoking. These are just a few examples of the many enrichment extension activities all our teachers provide. I spent Saturday morning with many of our families cheering on St. John as our teams competed in four basketball games. It was great to see the enthusiasm and camaraderie as our students, parents, grandparents, and friends supported our teams. I closed out Saturday with the gala honoring the Calandrellas for all they do for our parish. It was a great evening of food, fun, and friendship. This week, although very busy, reminded me how God has truly blessed our parish and school.
The Knights of Columbus have put up their fish fry shack and the Fat Tuesday feast will be held Tuesday to help our youth who are going to Catholic Heartwork Camp. That means Lent is almost here. As Pope Francis said, the best thing we can give up for Lent is indifference. Thank you for making our parish and school such a wonderful place.
God bless and take care, Dan Mardell
