Principal's Corner
Greetings,
I would like to thank everyone who helped with our annual clean-up of the school and parish grounds. We made sure all our smoke detectors and exit signs worked, replaced burnt out lights, fixed electrical sockets, cleaned and replaced A/C filters, put wood chips in the playground area, power washed the trailers, repaired railings, installed non-slip strips on the ramps, trimmed bushes and trees, weeded, painted, and completed many other tasks. I would like to give a special thanks to the Knights of Columbus, who organized the clean-up and assisted with many task.
We are very fortunate to have such an active parish. Last week we had over 100 children and teens enrolled in the Totus Tuus program. We have many people who cover our adoration which runs 24 hours from Thursday morning to Friday morning. We have volunteers helping with so many school and parish activities such as bingo, athletics, recycling, rummage sale, the gala, and many other activities. Also, we had four baptisms last weekend. The Holy Spirit is definitely at work!
Please take some time and look at how nice our grounds look. I am very excited about what we have accomplished in the last few years with everyone's help. With God's help, your prayers, and your commitment to help we can continue to grow in God's mission for our church and school.
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

Cross Country
Hello St. John Cross Country Runners!
No rest for the weary - as the school year comes to an end, this is the time to turn all of that mental energy into physical energy as you get out those running shoes and start running in preparation for the upcoming, exciting cross country season!! This year's season will officially start on MONDAY, JULY 27th -- we will be meeting, as in year's past, at Brooking Park by the big playground. For those new to the sport, we practice from 6-7:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday, and Thursday at the park. All you need is a good attitude, a willingness to try hard, and a pair of running shoes!! We lost a huge chunk of middle schoolers last year, so we need fresh faces to help out the veterans - so if you are interested, come on out and join the fun! Any student at St John's in 1st - 8th grade is allowed to be on the team. If there are any questions, or if anyone would like suggestions on how much and what they should be running in this early summer, please do not hesitate to contact me at
[email protected] OR call me at 606-669-1230. I hope everyone has a refreshing start to their vacation!
