The biggest highlights for these notes are to notify you of a couple of staff departures.
Mrs. Bates will not be returning for the 23-24 School Year as she has decided to return to work in her prior career as her husband retires from his long-serving military career. Mrs. Bates was a great asset to our preschool over the past two years (and was officially the new hire for me as principal) and I know that you will join me in thanking her for her service to our school and her care for the growth and learning of our little ones in preschool. Good news is that she and her family will continue to be involved around campus as her kids have a few more years to go as St. John students!
Ms. Ramsey will also not be returning for the 23-24 School Year. The call to return home to her native Western KY has grown too strong! After much prayer and discernment, she decided it was time to join the bulk of her family back home. Ms. Ramsey was integral to our elementary school program, having led the 5th grade for all her time here at St. John School. Her love for her students and amazing project-based learning lessons for the kids prepared them well for their journey to middle school. I also appreciated all that she did to make sure that school was a fun place to work and to learn. She will be missed greatly by the staff and the students! The next 5th Grade teacher will have big shoes to fill around here. She and her girls will be making the move back home sometime this summer.
See below for other items this summer like the SJS Running Club, and the special Corpus Christi Mass, Eucharistic Procession, and parish picnic this upcoming Sunday June 11th (where all are welcome to attend)!
As a reminder the school office hours this summer will be 9:00 – 12:30 Mon – Thurs if you need to drop off items or pick up items that were left behind as school ended.
Peace,
Mr. Mayer
Cross Country News
Summer vacation has started! This brings up of thoughts of playing outside, hanging out with friends, swimming in the pool, going on vacation, reading your favorite book, and ............ RUNNING! Yes......... St. John Cross Country!! Running is a great way to meet new friends, have fun with old friends, challenge and push yourself personally, and have fun racing as a TEAM! On top of all of these perks, it also is a fantastic way to get in shape for other sports. All you need are a pair or running shoes, some water, and a great attitude! Our first priorities as coaches are to keep this fun and try to develop a love for lifelong running!
If you are interested and want to give it a try, official practices start on Monday, July 24th at 6 PM at Brooking Park by the big playground. We will have a short parents' meeting the following Monday, July 31st at the beginning of practice at 6 PM at the same spot. If you are not sure about it, still come out and give running a try for a week or two. No experience needed!
The summer Running Club headed by Coach Meghan Graham is another great way to get into running for the first time. Veterans -this is a super way to start getting some miles on your legs! This is going to be on Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July. Be on the lookout for more information in the Office Notes from Coach Meghan about this!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] ! Looking forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces AND meeting a bunch of new folks! I hope everyone has a great start to the summer!
