Congratulations to Adrianna Brinkley, Taylor Crump, Linela DeBoard, and Nathan Kovach. Their robotics team qualified for the VexIQ Elementary School World Competition! All the time and hard work put in by the students and coaches has definitely paid off. Also, as we ended our basketball season I would like to thank our cheerleaders. They practiced very hard and truly embodied the spirit of St. John School. Their performances were enjoyed by our fans and people from other schools. Thanks to all the coaches for a great job working with the cheerleaders. Keep reminding the your children to come prepared and work hard!
God bless and work hard,
Dan Mardell

St. John School Going to the Robotics World Championship!
Only two years into starting a robotics program at St. John Catholic School, one team has been invited to the VEX IQ Robotics World Championship – also known as “Worlds” in the robotics inner circle. The study of competitive robotics includes all four pillars of STEM education, but also encourages important life skills like teamwork, communication and project-based organization.
This year St. John students formed three middle school VEX EDR teams and two elementary VEX IQ teams and all five made it to the state championship. Roy Sturgill, parent club manager said “I really don't believe this level of performance is normal nor was it expected for such a young club. This has everything to do with the intelligence of these kids and the support and guidance of coaches and parents.”
According to Jimmy Blankenship, parent coach “the skills score of our VEX IQ Team 2 (#34271B) earned them an invitation to Worlds and we couldn’t be prouder.” The team consists of fifth graders, Linela DeBoard, Nathan Kovach and Taylor Crump as well as Adrianna Brinkley, fourth grade. Fab Steel, Inc. of Lexington is sponsoring the team and they will be traveling to Louisville to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship on April 23-25.
