What a wonderful week you all helped us have last week. The kind words and bountiful gifts were a great reminder to all the teachers and staff why they do what they do. From all of us, thank you for your generosity and support not just last week, but throughout the whole year! We are truly blessed here at St. John Catholic School!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Jansen for a wonderful Art Show last week. It was great to see so many of you come by to check out our talented students. As a small Catholic school, we are very fortunate to have such a successful and engaging art program.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14th, will be Word and Communion instead of Mass because our priests (and all the priests throughout the Diocese) will be away at the priest Convocation during the middle of the week.
A reminder that the St. John School Field Day is this Friday, May 17th. Please pray for good weather as there is not a rain-day make up date. There are lots of fun activities planned for the elementary students and our middle school students will be off-campus that day during the morning.
Next week is jam-packed with end of the year activities including the preschool graduation, kindergarten graduation, 8th grade graduation, and of course, our last day of school. Details on those events have been sent by the respective teachers.
Next Tuesday, May 21st, our awesome 8th grade class will have their graduation ceremony at 6:00 PM in the Cardome Chapel. This means that their last day of school is this Friday. Please pray for them as they finish out the week and conclude their time here at SJS and head off to summer and then…..high school!!
A reminder that our last day of school is next Friday, May 24th. That day is an early dismissal day and there is no Afterschool care available. Please be sure to have plans to pick your students at 11:15 on May 24th. More reminders will be sent next week.
Lastly, we have one more staff update for next year. Mrs. Coleman is stepping away from her roles here at Ss. Francis and John Parish. In addition to her roles over at the parish, we asked her to put her teaching hat back on two years ago to help us pilot the idea of a second teacher for our middle school math program. Working with Mrs. Reinhart, her impact on helping meet students where they are in math has helped us prove that this approach is beneficial to our school, and more importantly to the students. As we begin the search for a replacement for our math program for next year, please join me in thanking Mrs. Coleman for the hours she gave helping middle school students become better math students and the hours that she put into helping the youth in the school and parish in their faith journeys.
The cafeteria will be offering snacks to purchase on Fridays. This will include items such as chips, rice krispies, cookies, etc. Snacks are $1.50 each. Student must have a positive balance to purchase. Please contact the cafeteria at [email protected] with any questions.
