St. John Families:

 

May is here and as warned last week, the days will really be speeding up.  We finished our spring MAP testing and the first read on the data looks pretty encouraging.  We saw a lot of improvement since the beginning of the year (which is the goal for an assessment of academic progress).  Your students’ scores will go out with the report cards at the end of the year as the Diocesan window for MAP testing does not close until May 11th.

 

Be mindful of any symptoms of illness in your household.  It has been tough with the recent extreme pollen days, but we have had some colds, flus, and even a few Covid positives among our students over the last two weeks (and the stomach bug has not moved on from our halls just yet).  Let’s finish out the year strong by keeping sick kids at home and emphasizing good hygiene, especially hand-washing.

 

Field Day is May 20th.  Greater details will follow from your classroom teachers, but this day will be a “bring your own lunch day” as the outdoor activities do not pair well with cafeteria service or regular lunch schedules.  Being outside is the theme of the day!  Breakfast will still be available/provided that morning, however.

 

There are several trips and events going on throughout the month of May, so please check your emails, return your permission slips, and if available, volunteer to drive or help us out.  Drivers are hard to come by and we definitely need volunteers to help with Field Day.

 

The last date I will emphasize is the last day of school.  We will be having our end of the year awards ceremony again this year (grades 1-7).  Time and details will be sent shortly, but please make plans to attend if you can.

Important Lunch Information for the 2021-2022 School year

School breakfast and lunch will be free for all students for the 2021-22 school year. This takes the burden off of families while they continue to recover from the pandemic.  We still need our families to apply for free/reduced lunches if applicable, click here.  These applications affect receipt of the P-EBT cards the government has been sending out as well as grant money the school receives from the state.
