The rainy weather held off and we had a blast on field day. Our middle school ventured to Sky Zone and spent the morning bouncing out their energy. Preschool through fifth grade spent the morning rotating between the inflatables and games. Some of the younger students commented that this was the best day ever! None of this would have been possible without the help of our wonderful parents.
The final week will be a busy one. Tuesday will be the last day for our eighth graders. They will celebrate Mass at 8:30 am, and then will be excused to get ready for graduation that night. The students in the eighth grade are a very talented group. They will be missed! The awards assembly will be on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday morning, we will have kindergarten graduation at Cardome.
I would like to congratulate all the seniors from our parish who belong to the 2017 graduating class at Scott County and Lexington Catholic. A special congratulation goes out to two former St. John graduates who are valedictorians of their schools. Michaela Reinhart was chosen valedictorian at Lexington Catholic, and Cece Wittry is one of the valedictorians at Scott County. Danielle Eubanks and Sarah Lyons, who also went to St. John School and are parishioners, were also valedictorians at Scott County.
Lastly, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the students, parents, and parishioners who helped make the 2016-2017 a great year for St. John School.
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell
