Weekly Updates
October 2017
Greetings,
Our new superintendent, James Conneely, recently visited our school and met with the faculty and school board last week. He was very impressed with the dedication and hard work of our staff and students. I know we have things to work on, but we can’t forget about all the positive things we do at St. John School. Remember we do have the best parents, teachers, and students!
October is shaping up to be a busy month with Confirmation, DC Trip, Diocesan Spelling bee, end of the first quarter, and pep rally for the athletes who participated in fall sports. The concrete entrance to our church/school parking lot is greatly improved thanks to the work of Ken True, Wyatt Hoffman, and Brian True. I would also like to thank Chris Muzinic, Craig Bilotta, Tom Johnson, Ben Herzog, and Fr. Linh for their help in cleaning up and moving the old concrete.
Lastly, check out below how our St. John Cross Country team fared in their last two meets. The runners have trained hard and are really improving. We also have students participating in soccer, football, and fall baseball.
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

St. John School Christmas Play!! Mark your calendars now! Sunday, December 17th, at 3pm in the Cardome Chapel.
It's just before Christmas and the tree ornaments have been awakened from their yearly hibernation by the movement of their storage box. It's time! As they begin to prepare for another season on the Christmas tree, they are greeted by a rather strange and "un-Christmassy" ornament: A Hula-Girl. The Star, Snowman, the Angel and others don't understand what she has to do with Christmas and give her a rather cool reception until another significant figure from the mantelpiece shows up to explain to all of them what Christmas is about and how they each have significance in God's amazing plan of redemption through His Son, Jesus.
A humorous and engaging story with delightful songs and a solid salvation message that will teach children what Jesus' coming was all about and remind kids and congregation alike that Christmas is truly a time to celebrate!
Save the Date Tuesday, December 19th after Mass

“No amount of money can replace a simple blood donation. Blood cannot be created in a laboratory, and only donors like you can provide blood to patients who need it right now.”
Each blood donor will receive a free KBC tee-shirt.
Now is the time to clip your box tops and turn them in to the school. Our 1st deadline for the school year is October 25th. Our school has received over $11,000 since we began collecting box tops. Lets try to reach of goal of $500 in box tops! Remember each non-expired box top is worth 10 cents.
New Athletic Director
I am happy to announce that our New Athletic Director is Neal Thompson. Neal and his wife, Julie, currently have one son in school, Parker. Parker is currently in Pre-K. I look forward to seeing the Athletic Department grow under his leadership. As you can already see some of that growth happening, he has worked with the YMCA so some of the younger kids can play together at the YMCA. Thank you Neal for taking this Volunteer position and hopefully, since Parker is only in Pre-K, you can enjoy this fun position for the next 8 years.
Thank you
Jason Noffsinger

PLAYERS NEEDED!!! We still need girls for the 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade teams. As or right now, we don’t have enough to play.
Please reach out if your child wants to play or if you have any other questions.
Cross Country News Your St John cross country runners had a busy. . . and TERRIFIC week of running!! First, this past Tuesday we ventured down to The Lexington School for the TLS Invitational. This is one of the runners' favorite courses because it contains haybale jumps, a woods, and a creek to go over. Despite it being a little toasty for early October, our runners attacked the course, had fun, and performed extremely well. Everyone 6th grade and under ran a 3K (1.84 miles), which is a longer distance, especially for our 1st-4th graders, but they persevered like champs; these kiddos included William Gordley, Griffin Hughes, Owen Graham, Raeburn Taylor, Coen Noble, Ben Mayer, and the boys mentioned below. Top 50 finishers, and ribbons earners, were John Reinhart (1st place), Joey Laco (21st), Mark Reinhart (45th), Josh Drummond (46th), Gianna Neaves (14th), Dominic Bilotta (1st place), David Reinhart (8th), and Kristin Drummond (20th)!. The boys 6th grade and under team got a very respectable 7th place finish out of 15 teams. Scorers for this team include John, Joey, Mark, Josh, and Kieran Graham!
This past Saturday, the 6th-8th grade middle school team raced at the large, competitive Lexington Catholic Invitational at the Horse Park! Once again, despite being unseasonably warm (but helped by some late cloud cover!), our 9 runners ran with gusto! The boys team placed 7th in this very competitive field, beating some large, powerhouse cross country schools like East Oldham, Oldham County, Highlands, etc! This was a longer race (4K) over some challenging rolling hills; Maddie Blankenship and Taylor Crump ran especially well over a distance they rarely see -- great job guys!! Scorers for the boys team were John Reinhart (5th), Dominic Bilotta (8th), David Reinhart (18th), Alex Mayer, and Joey Laco!!
Only 2 more races for the Saints! This coming weekend we are at Woodford Co Invitational at Falling Springs Park in Versailles and then we end the season with the Meet of Champions on Oct 21st at Masterson Station Park! Let's end it with a bang, Saints!!
