Tomorrow, October 4th, is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. The weather looks clear but a little chilly! We will mark the day by offering a Blessing of the Pets, in honor of St. Francis’s love of all God’s creatures, great and small. The students will head over to the Grotto around 8:00 am on Tuesday morning after morning prayer and announcements. If you are bringing animals to the blessing, please drop your student(s) off as normal and then you may park in either the Main Cardome lot at the South Entrance or in the B lot. Hopefully, by around 8:10 we will start the Blessing of the Pets.
As a reminder, your student may bring a picture of your pet for blessing or a stuffed animal to represent the pet if bringing a live animal is not practical for your family. When the blessing has ended, the students will process into the Chapel for our Tuesday morning Mass. And while parents are welcome at that Mass, please no pets in the Chapel!!
Remember that this week is a shortened week, as we observe our Fall Break. There will be no school from Wednesday, October 5th through Friday, October 7th.
Lastly, when we return from Fall Break, we will take our official basketball signups for the Diocesan Parochial Basketball Leagues. Details will come out then, but in brief signups will be for 5/6th grade and 7/8th grade teams for boys and girls. The league plays games on Saturdays starting at the end of November and runs through February. Practices would start towards the latter part of October.
