Greetings,
We have almost made it to fall break! I hope your children will take the opportunity to rest and relax. I want to thank everyone for their support of our "Healthy at School" policy. With your help we have been able to keep face to face instruction at St. John School. Please follow the social distancing, handwashing, and face covering guidelines during the break. We have a very long and important stretch during October and November with only one break, so it is very important everyone stays healthy.
Congratulations to the St. John Cross Country team. They have been working very hard and are doing a fantastic job! Please read the article about the team in the notes.
God bless and take care,
Dan Mardell

Cross Country Team Update!!
St John's cross country team has been back at in 2020! We started practice in the heat of late July, not really knowing if we would even have a season given all the issues with COVID-19. Despite this uncertainty, your 19 athletes set out running with passion every day and have been training hard since then. With lots of hard work from many coaches and cooperation from runners and parents, our team has been able to compete in several meets. In fact, your harriers have run the last 3 weekends: they ran at the Derby City Classic in Louisville on 13th, our own Double S Stampede on Sept 19th, and just this past weekend at the Bourbon County Charge on Sept 26th in Paris, KY.
We have 4 FIRST time runners this year and they are doing terrific! They all have great attitudes and super work ethics and are improving their times week to week! They are Piper Pennington (3rd grade), Avery Palmer (3rd grade), Lux Leverette (4th grade), and Cruz Leverette (6th grade)! Our other 15 runners, the veterans of the team, are competing like champs and doing terrific. Our middle schoolers, Preston Luckett, River Clark, Maura Laco, Gianna Neaves, and Mackenzie Hughes, are doing a wonderful job leading by example and effort! Our 6th grade runners, Coen Noble, Ben Mayer, and Cruz Leverette, are running much faster than last year and improving each week. They have a tough year in the fact that their distance and age group they run with are always changing...... they are handling things with style. Then there is the 3rd-5th grade group.... our largest group! Piper, Avery, Lilly Dozier, Cabrini Neaves, Tess Laco, Samuel Mayer, Mark Reinhart, Owen Graham, Lux, and Kieran Graham are tearing it up! In fact, our 3rd-5th grade boys (Lux, Mark, Owen, Kieran, and Samuel) have gotten 2nd PLACE out of 9 teams each of the last 2 races!!! This is quite an accomplishment and feat for a small school with just enough runners to even score! Rounding out our team is Kate Laco (2nd grade), who continues to run speedily around the courses!
Your team will be running each of the NEXT 3 weekends as well! Make sure to congratulate them on their efforts and success

Drop off Temperature checks!!!
Please turn off or lower your heat in the car as you approach the temperature check station. The heaters are causing high temperature recordings. In order to not slow the drop off line down, you may be asked to park and wait for us to retake your childs temperature if your child tests high. Please help make this a smooth process in the morning.
